I have the best mom!

So... my mom knows everything. I am not kidding. Ever since I was little I swear she always knew everything. It used to be a joke between the two of us, but even as an adult it never ceases to amaze me every time I call with a question, she always knows the answer. It is quite a gift I think. My mom is not only a great mom, but she is seriously the best grandma. I wish I would have had a grammy like her growing up. She LOVES her grand kids and is always doing special things for them and giving them special attention. She is a little cooky at times and when we get her away from the stresses of everyday life, she is a total crack up. (I have some seriously incriminating pictures from some girls trips together that out of the kindness of my heart I have chosen not to post...you're welcome) I know she is not very happy with the fact that we are living far away, but she has been so supportive and always lets us know how proud she is. It is also great because I know I can tell her about my bad days and she is always understanding and loving. I always feel like no matter what I do in my life, my mom is so proud of me and loves me unconditionally. In short- I am just now beginning to realize how hard being a mom is and as I do I am gaining a new appreciation for her. She is wonderful! I love you mom!

P.S. Also I want to thank her for trying so hard to figure out computers, blogging and e-mail so she can keep in touch, it really means a lot to me.

I have TWO garbage men..

A funny thing about Derek is that he ALWAYS takes out the trash. I mean always, without my asking, nagging or even hinting. I have a bad habit of taking the bag out of the pail and then leaving it on the floor to take out later (like when I go get the mail, or leave to go somewhere) and I always am surprized to see the Derek beat me to the punch. I swear I don't leave it there for him to do it, I hope he doesn't think that I do. It is just something he does autmatically that I think is funny. I am lucky I guess.

So... on that same subject, yesterday we were cooking in the kitchen and all of a sudden Easton just started taking the garbage out of the pail and Derek and I just looked at each other and said something to effect of "Is this for real? Did you teach him to do that?" Well, he did it. He even put in a new liner. It was awsome. So I told him that could be his new job. Then again today I forgot and I was in the process of taking it our and he jumped up from the table and said "Mom, this is my job, let me do it!" Ok! OK! Sheesh! I am just wondering how long I can get this to last. I think it is so funny! I guess I just wasn't aware of how fun it is to take out the trash!

It makes me realize how much Easton watches my daily actions and is learning so much around him just by watching me and Derek. It is a little scary, but also really awsome when he rewards me with a something good.

While I sat on my couch to write this blog entry I set a garbage bag near the front door to take out on my way to the store in a minute. Guess who just came and took it outside? Yep, funny.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEL!!!

I could never have a better sister or friend! You are thoughtful and giving, not to mention HILARIOUS. I love to just get together and stay up all night being silly and listening to music. We all know where Logan and Payton get there tenderheartedness and sweetness from. You are so talented and beautiful and I hope you have a great day! I wish I were there to celebrate with you-I love you sis!

What A MONDAY!!!!

I just thought I'd show how I spend a lot of my time these days... and that is doing paperwork!!!! This managing job is usually just jim dandy, and the biggest complaint I have is the amount of useless and repetitive paperwork required in every aspect. I feel like it is a waste of my time. so you see these stacks? This is a typical Monday. I try to get the majority of it done at the beginning of the week otherwise it is always on the back of my mind and I have a hard time doing anything else. I left the house for a couple hours today and when I returned I was informed that the Fire Dept. had just left because one of the residents locked themselves out while they were cooking and I wasn't there to let them in. There was no major damage and I am just glad that they didn't burn the building down! There is rarely an uneventful day around here to say the least! I need a pay raise.....

My first blog entry ever!!!

Well, if you are reading this I am happy. I have to admit that I am a slightly insecure blogger and don't want to do this if nobody is going to look at it. I am confident though that after looking at others blogs that there is joy to be had in the blogging world. By the way, I think blog is a really strange word.

At any rate, I hope this a good way to journal all the hilarious things Eastons says and a way for all our loved and missed friends and family to keep up on happenings in our life. I guess instead of trying to backtrack to much I am going to just fill you in on the latest.

As of right now Derek is back in school and in his second year of Optometry School. We have another year of school after this and then a full year of rotations. That seems like forever away, but time is flying and we are enjoying all the friends we have made here in Oregon. Easton is also in pre-school now and he informed me the other day that pretty soon he is going to be an eye doctor like Daddy... I just told him that maybe he should learn his letters first. He really says the funniest stuff and I wish I were better at writing things down. (Maybe now I will be!)

As for me I am kept busy managing apartments and trying not to go crazy when my phone rings off the hook. I am loving a small break with Easton in school and as of yet, I just don't know what to do with myself while he's gone. It is very strange.
