optomistic child

one day he goes to school and comes home and tells me he had no one to play with at recess. He jt uswalked around the drizzly playground with his hands in his pockets. His new kid in school blues nearly broke my mother heart. the next week he is happily climbing into the car and telling me about all his new buddies... although he can't remember their names.
.................................................
never mind that he is either sleeping on the futon or the floor these days. no bed? no dresser? no problem. He is so happy because he now has one bedroom to sleep in and two (empty ones) to play in. and besides- haven't you heart that it is so cool to keep your clothes in boxes?
.................................................
I only brought one box of Christmas decor, and picked up a 3" pre-lit tree at goodwill. so needless to say it is a Charlie Brown Christmas at our house. he was just as thrilled to decorate with me as every other year when we decked the whole place and cut down our own tree.
................................................
I am sitting here trying to get energy and motivation to clean our bathrooms when he returns from a potty break and happily declares that it is so cool that we have three bathrooms because we can all go potty at the same time. how much fun is that???
................................................
I only wish I were more like my child. hearts only break for minutes. Ice cream can fix anything. hugs make all hurts go away and there is always, always something on the bright side.

i felt a little flutter

it has been a whirlwind week. movements in my tummy reassured me and comforted me that our baby is safe and growing. a move back to a small town felt more like home than I expected. and to top it off we found out that the little heart inside growing with each beat of mine belongs to a precious little girl. this is going to be so fun!

this what I've been dreaming about night and day:

Just like real rock stars...

we are getting ready to get on the road again. so I thought our Halloween costumes were appropriate.

Easton had no idea that he was a small part of the vampire craze sweeping the nation. He got a LOT of candy. Oh man, he looks so big in this picture. How did that happen???

He is also doing a wonderful job of hiding my tummy... we are officially in the awkward "in-between" phase of pregnancy. lovely.

We will soon be looking a little something like like this as we strike out onto the open road once again.

Feel free to laugh and point at us as we drive by.

Jeggings

I actually saw someone wearing these and had to look multiple times to be sure. Yep, they really are spandex legging that look like jeans. oh, fashion. what were you thinking?

and they have a name. Jeggings.

and if you happen to think that you are one of the few people that call "pull them off" I must dutifully inform you that you are not.

sorry. no one. no way. no how.

Halloween Warm-up

My sister Mel is soooo artistic and a few years ago she invested in a face painting set for a school carnival...
we couldn't let that go to waste now could we??? the kids all rejoiced when she decided it was time for another round of recreational face painting.

Shelly's house was covered in DarthMol, fairy, butterfly, and Batman smudges. later that night, so were all of our bathtubs.

should we be worried that they all wanted to look like the devil?

Sometimes I look at our kids and wonder if they will ever realize how lucky they are. so loved, so blessed and beautiful. they are all having a Pollyanna childhood and I hope they know how hard we try to teach them how to love and celebrate life and each other.
...and how hard it is sometimes.
