we didn't mean literally.
Easton is now the proud owner of his first shiner. Given to him as he attempted to catch a ball at his first baseball game. It isn't too bad... and he was really brave when it happened. I could tell he wanted to cry but he was tough and just stayed on the field. What a champ!
I was sitting in the stand and it seemed like it played out in slow motion. I wanted to go out onto the field, but I didn't want to be the psycho-mom who runs onto the field and embarrasses her child. So I painfully let him deal on his own and he survived. vision still intact.
Baseball is taking over our life for the next month and a half- and he is so proud to be on a team for the first time. He's in little boy heaven and I have already seen the positive effect on him. He's got some skills! I am so glad he loves it and I feel like this is just the beginning. I imagine we'll have many more springs sitting on the sidelines. And I love it.
He is obsessed. In the past couple months all he wants to do is play ball. We set up a hoop on our patio since we don't have a yard and he stays out there for hours. and hours. I laugh because it's like a kid-sized playpen. I can hear and see him and he is on another planet. He gives himself commentary and draws basketball courts emblazoned with his logo with sidewalk chalk.
And so we move on from costumes, cartoons and star wars. Little boys imagining has turned to dreams of playing in the NBA. Or MLB. or NFL or some other sports acronym. He gets it all from dad, and he has obviously far surpassed any sports knowledge and skill I have. But I will be happy to root for him, I do know how to do that.

He is growing up so fast! You are right, you are headed for all the sports craziness that comes with the boy world. It is a fun world to join admittedly. You still have a few years until all the not so fun things in that world and the boy world for that matter join you. Live it up while you can! Love that photo of him kissing his sister. So precious.
I love baseball season. All of us always played growing up and I really miss it. My nephews first game is next week and I am so pumped to go watch! I am proud of you that you didn't run out on the field, that's brave on your part, I think I just might be the embarrassing mom type but we'll see when the day comes :)
I can't believe how grown up he is and what a beautiful baby girl you have. Isn't life grand! We sure miss you here! - Gallegos Family
