A 40-pound what?!?!

I wanted to share a little story that taught me a very important lesson:
So... Derek took Easton and I fishing to hopefully catch a 40 lb salmon... (I might as well tell you now that this story doesn't end with us catching a salmon). So here we are one happy family. The sun is shining and we have this really strange day where the weather is like 80 degrees in October. Derek is casting and I am reading on a blanket. After about a hundred times telling Easton to stay away from the edge of the river I finally decided to get off the blanket where I was thoroughly enjoying my book and stay right by him. I was picking up a cool stick to show him when I heard the splash and then total silence that was shortly broken by be screaming "Honey, Honey!!!" I looked at Derek and he looked in the river and then jumped in. Luckily Easton didn't fall to deep or far and Derek was able to pull him out. It was so scary. not so much the part of him actually falling because the river wansn't that deep and raging and Easton was scared, but fine. Scary in the sense that all the times I have been frustrated at him and annoyed at him came rushing into my mind and all of the sudden I think I realized just how much he means to me and that I need to be a more loving and gentle mom. I need to focus on the good in him and stop nagging so much. I just looked at my boys soaking wet and had the most overwhelming feeling of love for them both. I am so lucky to love them and have love and I found new appreciation for my life in that moment.

We stripped Easton down to his undies and hung his clothes on a tree. It was pretty funny. Our only 40 pound catch spent the rest of the afternoon fishing in his football underwear and red rubber boots.

I'm a mean old witch

Actually... I am not mean (or old, or a witch I guess...) but it is sure fun to dress up for Halloween and get into the spirit of things. Last night we went to a Halloween party for the Optometry students and we had a great time. Derek was such a good sport. He really doesn't understand my obsession with Halloween and the fact that I love to dress up even though I'm 25. Yet- because he loved me he donned the Vampire cape and even let me FULLY paint his face. (For all of you Stephanie Meyer fans... I had the vampire costume picked out long before I read Twilight, Eclipse, and New moon) and I wish I'd have gotten a better picture- he looked C-O-O-L. I got off easy because I got my entire costume from my sis Mel. She even paid for the shipping... isn't that nice? It was so funny and we looked quite festive if I may say so myself. We had fun playing Halloween games and I love the picture of Easton eating the donut- he was serious about getting that donut! Easton won best costume and he got to take home a pumpkin. I think he won because the entire night he wouldn't come out of character and just kept "flying" around the room. I can't wait to see him loaded up sugar come the 31st.

He really wanted the donut!

The "after party". I swear he did this to hiself!!!

Is it wrong to love an apple?

I have found a new love. It may sound silly to love and apple I know. But this is a new apple. No ordinary apple. It is a Honeycrisp. Crisp, juicy, tart, sweet, everything a perfect apple should be. These are a new "breed" I guess. They are REALLY expensive ( on sale like $2/ lb) but totally worth it. I'll never be satisfied by another apple again- seriously. I made homemade caramel and as I dipped every slice and savored every bite, I was in another world. A better world.

I've been tagged!!!

I've been tagged! The rules are that you list 6 facts/habits about yourself then at the end of the post name 6 people that you are going to tag. then they do it...

So... here we go...

ONE.
I can (and do) stand on my head.
TWO.
I hate to cook. I love to bake, but I find figuring out what to cook and doing all the work very boring and monotonous. Food never tastes good to me after I prepare it and I get so BORED in the kitchen! I told Derek that I wish I were never hungry because eating is a pain and it just never ends: cook. Eat. full. snacky. hungry. cook... see??? what a pain!
THREE.
I checked out the soundtrack to Wicked from our library and I am totally obsessed with the play now. I love all the songs and I even googled the synopsis and got the whole download on the Broadway play. Easton even know the songs and I you better believe next time it's in town I will be in the nosebleed section. I LOVE MUSICALS!!!
FOUR.
In recent years I have become slightly obsessed with shoes. I blame this on my roommate Kelsie at Snow because her mountain of shoes in the bottom of our closet was like a treasure and it is so fun when you have options. You can have a pair of shoes you love and they never shrink in the wash, never fit to tight if you gain a few lbs, never "don't fit right" after pregnancy, etc... I wish I had more money- and if I did I would spend it on shoes.
FIVE.
Speaking of $$$ I am a total sucker for bargain. I have noticed recently that I have become one of those annoying people that have to say how much they paid for something after every time anyone says anything about it. I need to stop that. I love getting good deals though and I think if I do- everyone else must surely appreciate my thriftiness.
SIX.
I am totally in love and borderline obsessed with my sisters. People I know must get so sick of me comparing every situation to them and all my friends know all their life stories. I just think I have been so blessed and I think I have the most amazing sisters. From the time I was a baby they dressed me up and took me everywhere and never made me feel like a tag-along. They have taught me so mush and been so giving to me. We have been through some really tough times and some really fun times and I know that they are Heavenly Fathers gift to me to help me through this crazy life. LOVE THEM!!!

OKAY... there's me. Now I tag: Bekah, Shelly, Charlynn, Sheila, Brooke, Jewels

HAVE FUN!!!
