Two long months have come and gone, I have made no time to blog.
But there were things I did each day, too important to push away,
Like teaching baby Saige to walk, and what birds are and how to talk.
And Easton should be sprouting fins because of how much that kid swims!
And every day we read and play,
And try to sing and laugh and pray.
Easton starts pillow fights, and baby keeps us up at night. (seriously)
Each day is full and by the end,
I just want to hang with my best friend. (that’s D)

Here are some cliffsnotes of life:
Baby Saige turned one... and she really enjoyed her cake...

she also got her first mani-pedi thanks to mom and grandma!
Hair in curlers too.. It was an extreme baby makeover.

We bought a pontoon boat! Just kidding- I wish. We have had a lot of fun fishing though and enjoying the outdoors since Derek is off weekends it has really given us a lot of family time together, which totally rocks!

Parade watching was not one of Saiges favorite pastimes...

And what the crap is happening to my son?!?!? He looks so grown up in this picture.
He is in little boy summer heaven and there are only 33 days left of summer vacation.
...not that I'm counting:)
***notice the lack of pictures??? I am in a phunk.
that is a photography funk. I just want to enjoy and not be worried about always taking pitures.
live in the moments instead of trying to capture them. And it is great -except I miss all the pictures. ha! ha!

iron man

If you had just swam 2.4 miles... just come up over "the wall" portion of your 112 mile bike ride... and were mentally gearing up for your grueling 26 mile marathon in 95 degree heat... isn't this who you'd want to see:

he also had a pom pom. it was pink. we were supporting Derek's sister who has been battling breast cancer for a year now. It was an amazing and inspiring day to see these athletes. Not inspiring enough to make me want to compete next year... but I will definitely be back to pass out Poweraid.

It's hard to be a Peep.

You might be eaten and enjoyed by a soon-to-be one year old...
who will love every bite of your sugary goodness...
{or}

you might get your sugary butt hot glued to an embroidery frame to form a bright, cheerful Easter topiary.
either way, I'm a fan.

when we said keep your eye on the ball...

we didn't mean literally.

Easton is now the proud owner of his first shiner. Given to him as he attempted to catch a ball at his first baseball game. It isn't too bad... and he was really brave when it happened. I could tell he wanted to cry but he was tough and just stayed on the field. What a champ!

I was sitting in the stand and it seemed like it played out in slow motion. I wanted to go out onto the field, but I didn't want to be the psycho-mom who runs onto the field and embarrasses her child. So I painfully let him deal on his own and he survived. vision still intact.
Baseball is taking over our life for the next month and a half- and he is so proud to be on a team for the first time. He's in little boy heaven and I have already seen the positive effect on him. He's got some skills! I am so glad he loves it and I feel like this is just the beginning. I imagine we'll have many more springs sitting on the sidelines. And I love it.

He is obsessed. In the past couple months all he wants to do is play ball.  We set up a hoop on our patio since we don't have a yard and he stays out there for hours. and hours.  I laugh because it's like a kid-sized playpen. I can hear and see him and he is on another planet. He gives himself commentary and draws basketball courts emblazoned with his logo with sidewalk chalk.

And so we move on from costumes, cartoons and star wars. Little boys imagining has turned to dreams of playing in the NBA. Or MLB. or NFL or some other sports acronym. He gets it all from dad, and he has obviously far surpassed any sports knowledge and skill I have. But I will be happy to root for him, I do know how to do that.
